The Inception of MSU SC Alumni
CHARTER PRESENTATION AUGUST 2007
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the members of the South Carolina-Upstate Chapter of the Michigan State University Alumni Association I would like to welcome you to our website.
As a chartered club, it is our mission to provide opportunities for alumni and friends of MSU to gather together to support and promote the university anyway we can. This most commonly takes the form of meeting at a local business or member’s home to watch and cheer on our Spartan Athletic teams. If you are new to South Carolina or the Upstate this is a great way to meet people with similar interests and backgrounds and enjoy the fellowship that comes with rooting for the Spartans. If you are a recent graduate, it is also a great way to network. You might be surprised how many MSU alumni are in the area and hold key positions in local businesses. If you are retiring to the area we could definitely use your experience and knowledge to help us grow and become more productive while at the same time offering the continued ability to support your Alma Mater.
We are a young organization, having received our charter in 2007, but we are committed to becoming the type of organization that can lead all of our members to be proud to be associated with us and MSU. In the coming months we will be developing plans to start a scholarship fund for local students who wish to attend MSU as well as evaluating different methods to promote MSU to college bound students. Furthermore, we would like to develop a philanthropic activity to promote our club within the Upstate area.
Membership in our chapter is open to all who are alumni, friends, or supporters of Michigan State University. If you are interested in joining and would like to help, or just meet fellow Spartans to watch a game, please feel free to contact me or any of the officers to be placed on our e-mail list.
