MSU ALUMNI CLUB OF THE CAROLINA UPSTATE
SUBJECT: NOMINATION AND SELECTION OF CLUB POSITIONS
The bylaws of the Club requires a review of the Board positions on a two year rotation for the
purpose of identifying and filling those positions that are vacated as a result of resignation and/or
term limits. The new Board will determine the need for restructuring (adding new positions or
committees) that would further enhance the visibility and value of the Club within the community,
to the members, and the MSU Alumni Association.
The Officers of the Club are:
–President: Chairs all meetings; responsible for the success of Club programs and activities;
liaison with MSUAA personnel
–Vice President: Performs duties of President as needed; assists other Board members and
committees in all Club operations
–Treasurer: Financial responsibility for handling Club’s income and expenditures; prepares
appropriate financial statements, reports, and filings; provides MSUAA with financial reports
–Secretary: Keeps/maintains minutes of Club and Board meetings; official correspondent for
Club; communicates significant Club actions and activities to MSUAA; ensures information on
Club’s website is correct and current
Young Alumni Coordinator: Develop goals and plans for young alumni membership programs;
assist Officers with other Club operations
At Large Members: Positions to be determined based on needs of the Club; assist and support
Officer activities and responsibilities (some positions may not be considered Officers of the Club)
At the recent meeting of the Board Officers the subject action was discussed and per the Bylaws
a Nominating Committee was established for the following:
1). Soliciting interest from any MSU Alumni or “Friend” of MSU in the Carolina Upstate area that
has interest in being considered for a Board or Committee position
2). Evaluating the candidates based on role and responsibility of positions to be filled
3.) Making the final decision on the candidates to serve in Board or Committee positions, identify
changes to structure and mission of Club positions, and make final selection of the 2014—2015
MSU Alumni Officers
This announcement is being sent to our current email list and is published on our website
(Michigan State Upstate South Carolina Alumni Club) to ask if you do have an interest in
participating on the Alumni Board for the coming term that you notify Rebeca Ortega (upstatemsualumniclub@gmail.com) by October 18th.
It is expected the process for selecting the 2014-2015 Board will be completed and announced by
the end of November.
